We use only natural oils designed to be absorbed into the clean wood for a protective shield that works from inside to out. This is not a “shell” finish that coats the exterior of the wood only to crack and come off leaving parts of the wood open to the elements. The oils we use are designed to last its lifetime maintaining water repellency. When the oils have out lived their lifetime they fade and let go of the wood. The advantage to this is that there is no stripping the wood with harsh chemicals to remove the remaining finish. Instead it can be washed off and then re-applied to bring back its original luster and furniture like appearance. All oils are pigmented. We never use clear finishes. They provide no protection from U.V. Many companies make the claims that they do but our experience has been that 3 to 6 months the wood has faded back to a gray tone.
